Deccan Chargers In 2008 IPL Season
Deccan Chargers were amongst the favorites to win the inaugural season
of 2008. However, the team could not make it even to the semi-finals. In
an unfortunate turn of events, the teams skipper V.V.S. Laxman had to
end his season due to an injury while Andrew Symonds who was the team's
most expensive player, batted only 3 innings before leaving to play for
his home team - Australia. Amongst the bowlers, only R. P. Singh,
Pragyan Ojha and Shahid Afridi could manage taking more than 4 wickets
in the tournament. Out of total fourteen matches they played, Deccan
Chargers won just two, against Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super kings.
However, they could not win a single match at their home ground.
